About Me

Introduction

Hello! I’m Damien Babin, a DevOps engineer focused on DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, automation, and secure software delivery. My background combines Azure administration, Terraform, CI/CD, containerization, Security+, an active DoD Secret Clearance, and four years of Marine Corps leadership experience.

Background

I served in the United States Marine Corps as an Anti-Tank Missileman from June 2020 to June 2024 at Camp Lejeune, NC. During that time, I led, trained, and mentored teams while holding billets including Fire Team Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Training NCO, Combat Marksmanship Coach, Radio Operator, HMMWV/JLTV Driver, and Combat Lifesaver. That experience shaped how I approach technical work: accountable, security-minded, calm under pressure, and focused on operational readiness.

Professional Interests

My focus areas include:

  • Cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS
  • Microsoft Entra ID, IAM, RBAC, and secure access governance
  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and ARM templates
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure Pipelines, and Jenkins
  • Containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and security compliance

Current Role

As a DevOps engineer and contractor in Louisville, Kentucky, I support cloud migration, Microsoft 365 administration, Azure Entra ID role and group management, local network gateway and switch configuration, and automation work that improves reliability and repeatability.

Personal Projects

  1. Azure Entra ID Automation: Developed Terraform-based infrastructure as code for repeatable identity and access management.
  2. Personal Portfolio Website: Built and deployed this site using Jekyll and GitHub Pages, with GitHub Actions for automated updates.
  3. AI Adventure Builder: Built a C#/.NET project exploring AI-generated tabletop roleplaying content and interactive storytelling.

Learning Journey

I’m committed to continuous learning across cloud engineering, secure delivery, automation, and operations. I am especially focused on deepening practical Azure administration, Kubernetes, Terraform module design, monitoring, and security compliance skills.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of technology, I enjoy spending time with my family, staying active through various outdoor activities, and exploring new technologies in my free time.
